It’s a luxurious fabric that has been popular for centuries in India. It is made in the holy city of Varanasi, also known as Banaras. And is renowned for its intricate designs and rich texture. The silk sarees and suits worn by guests were adorned with beautiful embroidery and embellishments, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of Banarasi Silk. The fabric’s timeless elegance and cultural significance make it a favorite choice for special occasions like this.

The launch of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai has been making headlines lately, and many big names were in attendance at the grand event. The stylish outfits worn by the celebrities also caught our attention, but it was Nita Ambani who stole the show with her stunning looks. On the first day of the event, she wore a beautiful royal blue silk saree with intricate gold brocade work, and a matching blouse. The work pattern of the elegant saree is called Jangala which is handcrafted by Banarasi Weavers. She accessorized with a gold and emerald necklace, complementing her ethnic outfit. Matching earrings and bracelets completed her look, while contoured cheeks, kohl-rimmed eyes, and mauve lips added to her glamour. A white gajra adorned her low bun, and her maroon bindi added the perfect finishing touch.

The legendary actor was recently spotted wearing a stunning parrot-green Banarasi saree. And as always, she looked elegant and graceful. Priyanka Chopara

Undoubtedly, Priyanka flaunts every kind of attire. And this time she gave a heartily flaw to the dress made of Banarasi Saree. The stunning ensemble was crafted using a 65-year-old vintage Banarasi patola (brocade) saree made with silver threads and gold electroplating on khadi silk. The saree was handwoven in the craft clusters of Varanasi.

It took Amit Aggrawal, the designer, and his team approximately six months to create this masterpiece. The saree is paired with a sequin sheet holographic bustier, reflecting the nine colors of the ikat weave that the brocade is set in. The intricate and exquisite design showcases the craftsmanship and skill of the artisans who created this vintage fabric, now given new life in this stunning contemporary creation.

Kirti Sanon

The “Kalga and Bel” is a series of leaves and floral patterns used in weaving the luxurious “Benares” saree. It is a traditional Indian attire worn for special occasions. At the stunning launch of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, the beautiful Kriti Sanon @kritisanon showcased a modern interpretation of the classic Benares saree. She draped it in the form of an evening gown and incorporated a cape. Yes she effortlessly embodying the elegance and sophistication of the timeless fabric. Esteemed Indian designer Monisha Jai Singh designed the beautiful outfit.

Kriti’s contemporary take on the traditional saree highlights its versatility and enduring appeal, making it a favorite choice for both traditional and modern fashion.

Saba Azad

For the occasion of the second day of NMACC, the esteemed designer Amit Aggrawal exclusively fashioned a Red saree-gown for the talented Saba Azad. This attire served as a tribute to the complexities of Indian craftsmanship and textiles, fused with a contemporary twist. A vintage Banarasi brocade, intricately woven with gold threads, has been seamlessly combined with a well-structured body. The bustier boasts of pleats made with a distinctive signature material. It is expertly tailored to sculpt the body, which effortlessly merges into the sleeves. The draping technique of the Red Banarasi is what sets this piece apart, creating an illusion that blurs the boundaries between a saree and a gown.
